Willie Watts entered into eternal rest at East Jefferson Hospital on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the age of 77. He was a native of Utica, MS, and a lifelong resident of Marrero, LA. Willie was a graduate of Lincoln High School Class of 1965, and he attended Grambling State University. He later served his country in the U.S. Army, where he received an honorable discharge. Willie was employed at Johns Manville Company for 12 years and later retired from the West Jefferson Levee District with twenty-plus years of valued service. He was a member of Vineyard Ministries, where he served faithfully as a deacon until his health began to decline. Willie was affiliated with many organizations in the community. Devoted husband of 55 years to Thelma Walker Watts. Beloved father of Valerie Hewitt, and Kareem Watts (Johanna). Grandfather of Leena, Zariyah, Mia Hewitt, and Kaden Watts. Step grandfather of Alexis and John Rodriguez. Great-grandfather of Isaiah Gatica. Goddfather of Lacrecia Mason. Son of the late Elihu and Jimmie Watts. Brother of Juanita Johnson, Geraldine Howard, Patricia (Murphy) Noel, Gwendolyn (Charles) Harris, Rodrick Wayne Watts. Calvin (Sandy) Crawford Jr., Fred (Tyrese) Crawford, Tyrone (Angela) Crawford, Shirley, Lorrie, Laquita Crawford, Edna C. Clark, and the late Juanita Crawford. Father in law of the late Coney Hewitt. Brother-in-law George (Linda) Walker, Sr., and the late Charlie, Robert, Eddie, and Willie Henry Walker, Carron Sims, and Laura Walker, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Vineyard Ministries, New Salem Church of Christ Holiness, and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at New Salem Church of Christ Holiness 1540 Mansfield Ave. Marrero, LA on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 11:00a.m. Elder George Taylor Host Pastor - Elder Gerald Brown officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time. Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery-Avondale, LA. Arrangements by Davis Mortuary Service 230 Monroe St. Grenta, LA.
