WILLIE MERLE CAUSEY

Willie M.  “Sarge” Causey entered into eternal rest at his residence on Friday, April 7, 2023, at the age of 78. He was a native of Tylertown, MS, and a resident of New Orleans, LA for over 40 years. Willie was a graduate of McDonogh 35 High School Class of 1962 and continued his studies at Dillard University. In 1987 he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Southern University at New Orleans. Willie retired from the United States Army as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of service. He was a faithful member and deacon of Nazarene Baptist Church. Willie was an avid New Orleans Saints fan and season ticket holder for over 36 years. Beloved father of Benita Denise Causey-Williams, Andrea Deanna Causey Thomas, Aaron D. (Melissa) Causey of Bradenton, FL, Adrian David Causey, and the late Veronica Elizabeth Causey. Grandfather of the late Keenan Daniel Zeno. Longtime partner of Linda Lee. Son of the late Thereal Causey and Annie B. Lundy Causey Conerly. Stepson of the late J. L. Conerly. Brother of Maeola Causey Thompson, and the late Edward, Sullivan, Wilton, Charles, Enell and Jimmie Nell Causey. Father-in-law of the late John Thomas. Uncle of the late Richard A. Causey. Former husband of Veronica Shaw Montrel; also survived by 17 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officer, and members of Nazarene Baptist Church, New Hope Baptist Church, and neighboring churches; members of DAV-Alvin E. Armstrong Chapter; Alumni of McDonogh 35 High School 1962-1963 are invited to attend the Funeral Service at New Hope Baptist Church, 1807 Rev. John Raphael Jr Way New Orleans, LA on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Jamaal Weathersby, host pastor; Rev. Dr. Earl Horton, Jr., officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
