Wayne Michael Downs entered into eternal rest at Baton Rouge General Hospital on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at the age of 37. He was a native of Marrero, LA and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. He was a graduate of L. W. Higgins High School, where he was a tuba section leader in the band. Wayne also was a member of the Jr. ROTC, serving as a Cadet Major. He was Owner/Operator of WMD Management Group, LLC pursuing his dream of truck driving and working for himself. This was a goal that he was dedicated, hardworking and committed to accomplish. In 2007, Wayne became a member of Pride of Waggaman Masonic Lodge #42, working under the United Most Worship St. John Grand Lodge AF & AM of Louisiana; he was also an active member of Crescent City Lodge #103. Wayne will always be remembered as funny, dependable, honest, giving, supportive, and just an all around great person. Beloved husband of Krystal Downs. Devoted father of Wayne Michael Downs II. Loving son of Darlene Jenkins and the late Wayne White. Stepson of Mildred White and the late Hal “Harold” Jenkins. Grandson of Dolores Cullier, Laversia Jackson, and the late Raymond Cullier, Lawrence Harris, and Clarence England. Brother of Darlika (Michael) Boines, Tracy Walker Powell, Felicia Evans, Harriet (Robert) Cooley, Shaneka Keller, Shaquille Crawford, Robert Liddell, and the late Latasha Coleman. Brother-in-law of the late Eugene “Trey” Sonnier III and Ronald Powell. Wayne is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also members of Waggaman Masonic Lodge #42, Daughters of Waggaman OES Chapter #49, and Crescent City Lodge #103 are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, 1738 L.B. Landry Ave., New Orleans, LA on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 11:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service at the church.
