VERNAL SMITH III

Vernal Smith III departed this life at University Medical Center on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at the age of 18. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Vernal was a student at L. W. Higgins High School, where he played football and basketball. He was expected to graduate with the class of 2022. Beloved son of Lekevia Tiara (Brandon) Neely and the late Vernal Smith, Jr. Grandson of Vernal Smith, Sr., Raymond and Yvette Bannister, and the late Joyce Smith and Yvonne Neely. Loving brother of Nolan Neely, Antonio Neely, and Ver’Niya Smith. Uncle of Nolan Neely, Jr. Nephew of Joseph, Donald, Henry, Nicholas, Joshua, Kendall, and the late Stephanie Williams. Vernal is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also faculty, staff and students of L. W. Higgins High School are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at DAVIS MORTUARY SERVICE, 6820 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY MARRERO, LA on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 10:00a.m.  Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the above named parlor.
