VANESSA DEVORE BROWN

Vanessa DeVore Brown entered into eternal rest at West Jefferson Medical Center on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at the age of 68. She was a native of Algiers, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. Vanessa was a 1973 graduate of L. B. Landry High School and continued her studies at Delgado Community College, where she majored in Business Studies. Vanessa was employed for many years at Terras Total Care, Maxima Group Behavioral Services, and the Jefferson Parish School Board. Her caring and compassionate spirit will be missed by everyone who knew her. Beloved wife of 40 years to Elijah E. Brown. Loving mother of Chad W. (Nadia) Brown, Freddie Brown, Eddie E. Brown, Jr., and the late Robert C. (Gwen) Brown, Sr.  Daughter of the late Elmore W. and Geraldine Ducro DeVore. Sister of Shirley Mahoney Edwards, Gwendolyn D. (the late Adam J., Sr.) Thomas, Patricia Devore, Consuella D. (Willie D., Jr.) Cromedy, Arthur (Helen) Devore, Sr., and the late Lois Ann Devore, Elmore George (Deborah) DeVore, Sr., and Norman Lee DeVore. Cousins whom she loved as sisters, Beverlyn Colar and the late Edna Marie Washington. Godmother of Brandon Maryland. Lifelong and devoted friend of Zenetta S. Drew, Elaine Ross Thomas, Lisa Knighten, Brenda Francois Ketchins, Margaret Ross and Gwen Barze. Also cherishing her memories her special son Shawn Hogan, 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces, and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Greater Zionfield Family Worship Center, St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches; alumnus of L. B. Landry Class of 1973; the Algiers Community; employees of Jefferson Parish School Board, Terras Total Care, Maxima Group Behavioral Services and Gwen’s Preschool Academy are invited to attend the Funeral Service at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, 1738 L. B Landry Ave. New Orleans, LA on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 10:00a.m. Rev. Dr. Norman N. Francis, host pastor; Dr. Samuel Travis, officiating.
