ULIS SAMUEL JONES, SR.

Ulis Samuel Jones, Sr., a retired railroad engineer, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at the age of 84. He was a native of Plaquemine Parish, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Ulis was a 1956 graduate of Sunrise High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force, and served his country for 6 years. Beloved husband and best friend of Patricia S. Jones. Loving father of Mohamed Jones, Paquita (Benjamin) Hardin, Leslie Cannon, Sheldon Jones, Sr., and the late Ulis S. Jones, Sr. He was also instrumental in the rearing of his granddaughter Unique Jones, whom he loved as a daughter. Son of the late Herbert Jones and Gertrude Johnson. Devoted brother of Benjamin (Lana) Jones and the late Elaine Moore. Nephew of the late Lucretia Hudson. Ulis is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 3 sisters-in-law, 1 brother-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at DAVIS MORTUARY SERVICE, 6820 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY MARRERO, LA on Friday, September 16, 2022, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the parlor.
