Torey Blaise Polk, age 44, departed this life on Sunday, August 15, 2021. He was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA. Torey was a 1993 graduate of O. Perry Walker High School. After graduation he began a career with the military. Torey enlisted in the United States Army and was active duty for 4 years. He then enlisted National Guard Reserve for 21 years, where he severed as a medic. In September of 2005 he was also active duty in the National Guard for 5 months. Torey was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant (E-4). During his military career his received numerous commendations, which include Good Conduct, Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle), Humanitarian Service Medal and the Louisiana Emergency Service Ribbon, to just name a few. In December of 2017 Torey earned as associate degree in Respiratory Therapy. He was employed as a Respiratory Therapist with Ochsner Medical Center Main Campus. Torey will be remembered for his love of attending Second Lines and following the Indians. Beloved son of Vanessa Valentine and Bishop Blaise (Lizette) Polk, Sr. of Richmond, TX, Stepson of Alroy Rickerson and the late Janie Polk. Grandson of the late Dorothy Harris, Mabel Polk, David Valentine, and John Henry Polk. Great grandson of the late Aileen Dodson. Loving brother of Anna Rickerson, Marlene (Phil) White of Rosenberg, TX, Daniel Rickerson, Blaise Polk, Jr. of Rosenberg, TX, and Larry Washington II of Richmond, TX. Stepbrother of the late Perry Greenwood, and Lamar and Leon Washington. Fiancée of Dana Kelly. Stepfather of Samuel and Olivia Kelly. Nephew of the late Dr. Cynthia Valentine Greggs. Torey is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at DAVS MORTUARY SERVICE, 6820 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY MARRERO, LA on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 11:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time.
