THERROW BRUCE SCOTT

Therrow “Tee” Bruce Scott transitioned into God’s eternal presence at West Jefferson Medical Center on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at the age of 58. He was a native and lifelong resident of Marrero, LA. “Tee”, as he was affectionately known to family and friends, was a 1982 graduate of West Jefferson High School. He continued his studies at L. S. U. and Xavier University.  As a talented and gifted gospel singer and choir director, Therrow served the Lord with his musical skills. Throughout his life he sang with and directed numerous gospel groups and choirs, including the Gospel Soul Children.  He founded the gospel recording group Therrow Scott and Tehillah, that performed locally and throughout the United States. His invaluable contribution to gospel music has left a profound legacy on the gospel community and those under his tutelage.

Beloved son of Merrie Noel McKnight-Scott and the late Jessie “Bully” J. Scott, Sr. Grandson of the late Elijah and Clara McKnight, Elder Nathaniel Scott, and Myrtis Ramsey-Craig. Loving brother of Rene (Ross) Jackson, Jesse J. (Ursula) Scott, Jr., and the late Ulysses Scott. Devoted uncle of Catrina (William), Carlito (Leah), La’Keisha, Rodney, Arianna, Jesse III, Brenson, De’Nai, and Christian. Nephew of Verta Mar, Keith (Paulette), and Kirk Craig, Theresa Lambert, Eddie (Linda), Frank and Audrey Scott, Gladys Johnson, Loretta Moore, and the late Louise and Delores Scott, Barbara Moore, Elaine Ramsey, Velma Long, Margaret Grimes, Annie Bell Davis, and Wilbert McKnight. Great nephew of Emmett Ramsey. Although Therrow never had any children of his own, he was a father figure to Terrell Smith. Also cherishing his memories are a host of great nieces and nephews, godchildren, cousins, and friends.  Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Life Center Cathedral Family Life Center and all neighboring churches; employees of Inclusive Care Health Clinics; all choirs and directors of the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan area are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Life Center Cathedral Family Life Center 2100 Ames Blvd. Marrero, LA on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 10:00a.m. Viewing will be held from 8:00a.m.-10:00a.m. ONLY; Musical Tribute 8:00a.m-9:30a.m.  Bishop J. Douglas Wiley, officiating. Interment: Providence Memorial Park Cemetery-Metairie, LA. Arrangements by Davis Mortuary Service 230 Monroe St. Gretna, LA.
