THAIS MAYFIELD

Thais “Mommie” Mayfield entered peacefully into eternal rest at her residence on Friday, March 24, 2023, at the age of 75. She was a native of Belle Chasse, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA.  Thais attended Scottville High School and a was a retired RST from Metropolitan Developmental Center, after 18 years of service. She was also employed for many years as a part-time custodian with Plaquemines Parish School Board. Devoted mother of Necola Walters LaFrance and the late Wanda Marie Mayfield. Loving grandmother of Terry, Frank, and Brittany Mayfield, Larry, III and Jamal LaFrance. Daughter of the late Charles, Sr. and Burtina Mayfield. Beloved sister of Marion Black, Elaine Mayfield, Dora Wallace, and the late Lawrence, Glenn, Dalton, Sr., Charles, Jr., Perry, AdaBelle, Lydia, Paulette, and Valerie Mayfield, Jeanette Williams, and Ida Taplett. Thais is also survived by 16 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Greater St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; employees of Ochsner, Heart of Hospice, Floor and Décor, Hooters, former coworkers of Belle Chasse Primary School, Metropolitan Developmental Center (State School); members of Krewe of Nandi and Earle L. Bradford, Sr.  Chapter #191 are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Greater St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, 182 W. St. Peter Street Belle Chasse, LA on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 10:00a.m. Rev. Dr. Darnell Smith, Sr., officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the above named church.
