Sylvia Ann Travis Leggett, age 85, entered peacefully into eternal rest at Pontchartrain Health Care Center on Sunday, March 1, 2026. She was a native of Hattiesburg, MS and a resident of Mandeville, LA. Sylvia was a proud graduate of Brown University and pursued a meaningful career in healthcare administration. She faithfully served at East Jefferson General Hospital of 30 years, where her leadership, professionalism, and dedication earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and staff alike. As a faithful and devoted member of Life Church Mandeville, Sylvia was deeply cherished by her church family throughout her later years. She lived a long, purposeful, and faith-filled life devoted to God, her beloved family, and a distinguished career marked by excellence and service. Sylvia created treasured memories that will forever be held close by those who were fortunate to know her. Loving mother of Gregory C. Leggett, Sr. of Pasadena, CA, Cherryl D. (Glen) Winston of Mandeville, Charles Ray (LaToya) Leggett, Jr. of New Orleans, Debra R. Sumner of Marrero, Derrick A. (Shelita) Leggett of Belle Chasse, and the late Jeffery Paul Leggett. Devoted grandmother of the late Gerard Lanier. Daughter of the late George Travis and Willie Mae Travis Adams. Beloved sister of Georgia Hammond of Miami, FL, Mary Richards of Ruston, Ernest Travis, and the late Johnny Ray, Donald, and Jim Travis. Godmother of Thelma West, Tyrin Landry, and K’yomi Robertson. Also cherishing her memories are her best friends, Josie West of Marrero and Treadwell of Folsom, 15 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Life Church Mandeville, White Dove Fellowship and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at White Dove Fellowship, 3600 Manhattan Blvd., Harvey, LA on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00a.m. Pastor Mike Mille’, host pastor; Pastor Paul Smith, officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the church. Interment: Westlawn Park Cemetery-Gretna, LA.
