SHIRLEY JEAN MAHONE

Shirley Euell Mahone departed this life at her residence on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the age 88, just days shy of her 89th birthday. She was a native of Alexandria, LA and a resident of Avondale, LA. Shirley was a 1955 graduate of Peabody High School, and a retired employee of Eckstein Marine Service. She was a woman of diverse interest and talents. Her passion of cooking was renowned among her family and friend; she had an unmatched ability to bring people together through her delicious meals. Shirley was an avid gardener with an extraordinary green thumb. She was also a fervent supporter of the New Orleans Saints, rarely missing a game and cheering with unwavering enthusiasm. She will be remembered as a guiding light, a constant source of encouragement, and a believer in the potential of all those she loved. Devoted mother of Gregory (Paula) Euell, Cheryl (the late Larry) Robinson, Demetrius (Dale) Thomas, Euell Thomas, Carlotta (Michael) Bacon, and the late Sylvia and Eric. Cherished grandmother of Henry and Domonique Thomas, Euell, Lavell, and Dorian Sylvester, Tyrell Carter, Makaila Euell, Aeryk, Aaliyah, and Aaron Bacon, and the late JaShaun Thomas and Damond Hester. Daughter of the late James and Lucinda Euell. Sister of the late James Euell, Jr. and Marilyn Edwards. Close friend of Roslyn, Lauren, Kristen, and Taylor Eckstein, who cherished her companionship and warmth. Also cherishing her memories are 13 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the parlor.
