SHIRLEY A. GRIFFIN

Shirley Ann Griffin transitioned peacefully into eternal rest at her residence on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the age of 74. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Shirley was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Marrero, LA. She was a dedicated employee of West Jefferson Hospital for over 40 years, before retiring in 2017. “Sweet Black”, as she was lovingly known to family and friends, found joy in the simple pleasures of life, going to movies, shopping, getting her nails done, and watching a good movie. She will be remembered for kind heart, generous spirit, and compassionate nature. Devoted mother of Felecia (Derick) Williams, Dariyan (Amanda) Griffin, Clifford (Kamyrnn) Harris, and her bonus son Donald (Nikki) Lewis. Proud grandmother of Crystal (Devon), Jessica (Davan) Friloux, Ty’Ron (Destiny) Henry, Brejion (Amber), Cree Harris, and 8 bonus grandchildren. Great grandmother of Paris, London, Ky, Ty’Ron, Tianna, Dyson, Karter, and Journee. Daughter of the late Sullivan Helton, Sr. and Marie Strawder Helton. Granddaughter of the late Lula Mae Bennett, Clarence “Doc” and Lille Mae Strawder, Joseph, Sr. and Lottie Mae Helton. Loving sister of Barbara (Isaac, Sr.) Nelson, Sandra (Michael, Sr.) Holmes, Sullivan Helton, Jr., Sybil (Purvis, Sr.) Bridges, Stephanie (Brockton, Sr.) Tross, Malbert (Vanita) Helton, Sr., Shavonne Helton (Kevin Sims), Anthony Flot, Allen (Shawn) Flot, Patricia (Christopher) Figaro, George (Crystal) Flot, Vanessa Williams, Michael (Andrea) Brazile, Carol (Alfred) McDaniel, Eric (Latanya) Brazile, and the late Delores Harrison, Darlene Florence, Lottie Helton, Donald Williams, Robert Helton, and Sullivan Flot. Brother-in-law of Lionel Florence and the late Isaac Nelson, Sr. and Dorance Harrison. Also cherishing her memories are her devoted friends, Shelia Barnes, Hortense Lazard, Janice Roussell, and Edarine Johnson, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Rock of Ages Baptist Church, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Rock of Ages Baptist Church, 6533 Acres Road, Marrero, LA on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 9:00a.m. Pastor T. A. Ransom, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the church.
