SHAWN ALEXANDER TOUSSAINT

Shawn “Big Tweet” Toussaint, age 57, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at West Jefferson Medical Center. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Avondale, LA. Shawn was a graduate of L. W. Higgins High School, and he attended South University of New Orleans. “Tweet”, as he was known to family and friends, was a retired private school bus driver. He was also known as “DJ Tweet”, who always knew how to hype the parties with his music. Shawn will be remembered as the life of the party and for his famous seafood boils and family gatherings. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of West Jefferson Medical Center and Fresenius Kidney Care; staff and students of Weatherford Academy; employees of Rouses Markets and members of Go DJs New Orleans Chapter. Beloved son of the Late Bernard And Sammie Toussaint. Grandson of the late Rev. and Mrs. J. R. Hunter, Sam and Sophie Smith. Loving brother of Bridgette Toussaint, Jason (Roslyn) Toussaint, Jarrick Toussaint, and Justin Toussaint. Devoted uncle of Christopher Toussaint, D’Vonn Ranson, Arima Nanlal and Maya McQuarter. Nephew of the late Annie Paul. Godfather of Adrienne and Adrianne Franklin. Shawn is also survived by his 4-ever sisters Marie Nanlal, Andrea Williams, and Keisha Moore, his best friend Kisha Baker, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe Street, Gretna, LA on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the parlor.
