Shamarie Barnett-Comeaux, age 61, entered into eternal rest at Slidell Memorial Hospital on Friday, September 19, 2025. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Slidell, LA. Shamarie was a proud graduate of L. W. Higgins High School. She was employed as a bus driver in New Orleans, and adored by her students, because her smile brightened every morning commute. Her talent as an interior designer was renowned, with a touch that transformed spaces into luxurious, breathtaking retreats. Decorating revealed her creative spirit and her deep desire to bring beauty and joy into every corner of the world. Shamarie was a beacon of light to her family and community; her love and grace will forever shine in their hearts. Beloved wife of Robert Comeaux. Devoted mother of Tramandis Barnett, Quan (Daijonia) Barnett, Shaun Barnett, Deangelo Barnett, and Troy Barnett; stepmother of Robert Baker and Aaron Comeaux. Treasured grandmother of Tramandis, Jr., Tranaiyah, Tramaine, Tyree, Tamari, Terrell, Laylah, Trayvon, Shaquan, Quan, Jr., Carter, Cartier, Deangelo, Jr., Deangel, Secret, and Milayah Barnett. Daughter of the late Buford Barnett and Danuella Hamilton. Stepdaughter of the late Wesley Hamilton. Granddaughter of the late Daniel Smith III, Louis and Luberta Doptimore. Loving sister of Telisa (the late Kevin) Clark, Genese Barnett, Rhonda (Tyrone) Brown, Carolyn Hamilton (Richard) Penwright, Nakomus (Wanda) Barnett, Alonquin Barnett, Wesley (Sharonda) Hamilton, Buford (Megan) Barnett, and the late Shelia Barnett. Aunt of the late Tyrone Hamilton. Niece of Alarice Gullage, Daniel (Gayle) Smith, Michael Doptimore, and the late Dolores Doptimore, and Veronica Harris. Daughter-in-law of Dorothy Comeaux and the late Gerald Comeaux. Also cherishing her memories are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Mt. Calvary International Worship Center, Second St. John Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Mt. Calvary International Worship Center, 1600 Westwood Drive, Marrero, LA on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Apostle Terry Gullage, officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the church.
