SANDRA BLACK PONSON

Sandra Black Ponson, age 73, transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Ochsner Medical Center Westbank. She was a native and resident of Gretna, LA. Sandra was a graduate of Lincoln High School, and a retired Daycare Owner. She was an active member of Regular Baptist Church, where she served an usher and a member of the Pastor’s Aid and Women’s Day Committee. Beloved wife of the late Alvin Ponson. Devoted mother of Ryan Kirts and Reynaud Ponson. She was also instrumental in the rearing of her granddaughter Reyell Ponson, whom she loved as a daughter. Loving grandmother of Mekhi Ponson, Endya Ponson, Kassidy Ponson, Aaron Ponson, Sr., and Ayan Ponson. Daughter of the late Charles and Louise Brown Black. Sister of the late Carver Black and Barbara Black. Devoted aunt of Brandey Randle. Godmother of Adrell Pinkney, PhD., Emerald Pinkney and D’Miri Pinkney; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Regular Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Regular Baptist Church, 901 5^th Street Gretna, LA on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at 10:00a.m. Rev. Dr. Toy A. Hodge, officiating. Viewing will be held from 8:30a.m. -10:00a.m. ONLY at the church.
