SAMUEL HINES, JR.

Samuel “Sammie” Hines, Jr. entered eternal rest at Ochsner Medical Center Main Campus on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the age of 88. He was a native of Waterproof, LA and a lifelong resident of Harvey, LA. Samuel was a graduate of Lincoln High School. He was employed as a driver with Hollywood Studios, until his retirement at the remarkable age of 86. “Sammie,” as he was affectionately known to family and friends, was also the proud owner of Sammie’s Air Conditioning & Refrigeration. His commitment to working and providing for his family was a true reflection of his strength, perseverance, and character. Beloved husband of Debra Richard-Hines. Devoted father of Brandon McDonald, Demetrice Hines, Eric Hines, Kevin Hines, Lynell (Roy) Gaines, and the late Cheryl “Ann” Hines. Son of the late Samuel Hines, Sr. and Sadie Vaughns. Son-in-law of the late Paul C. Richard and Carrie B. Richard. Brother-in-law of Sherry Wheeler, Portia McFarlin, and Kevin Richard. Also cherishing his memories are his godchild, Sharon Helton, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Melvin C. Zeno of St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the parlor.
