SADIE MAE BROWN

Sadie Mae Brown peacefully departed this earthly life on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the age of 73, leaving behind a legacy defined by love, generosity, faith, service, and unwavering compassion. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA. Sadie was a proud 1971 graduate of L. B. Landry High School. She devoted many years to Early Childhood Development, where she lovingly nurtured and cared for countless children. Later, she fulfilled one of her lifelong dreams by founding Heaven’s Kitchen Catering, where her extraordinary gift for cooking became another expression of love. Every meal she prepared nourished more than the body; it nourished hearts, created fellowship, and transformed ordinary gatherings into cherished memories. She had an extraordinary ability to make people feel seen, valued, and deeply loved. Beloved wife of the late Edward C. Brown, Sr. Devoted mother of Dr. Edward C. Brown, Jr., Kenneth R. D. Brown, and Eboni M. Brown; honorary mother of Danielle J. Williams and Aiesha T. (Oscar) Garcia. Cherished grandmother of Kenyah (Leo) Foster, Edward C. “Tre” Brown III, Kenyan S. Brown, and Zoe M. Brown; honorary grandmother of Alexis M. J. Callier, and Dillon T. Williams. Daughter of the late Ferdinand A. Meggs, Sr. and Marion Hives Meggs Vincent. Stepdaughter of the late Eddie W. Vincent. Loving sister of Rev. Ozzie (Mary) Joseph, Albertha Emelda Meggs (William) Hall, Ferdinand A. Meggs II, Michael (Barbara) Meggs, Sr., and the late Elaine Young, Carrie Levy, Margaret Meggs, Rev. Clarence Joseph, and Raymond Meggs. Mother-in-law of the late Charlene James Brown. Sadie is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, lifelong friends, neighbors, and former co-workers.Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors officers, and members of New Home Ministries and all neighboring churches; alumni of L. B.
