RONNIE TYRONE JAMES

Ronnie Tyrone James entered into eternal rest at his residence on Wednesday July 29, 2026, at the age of 70. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Metairie, LA. Ronnie was educated in the Jefferson Parish School System. He worked diligently as a laborer in a variety of fields, including landscaping, food service, and transportation. Most recently, he enjoyed working alongside his son at Sweet Sadie’s, where he served as a dishwasher and a dependable member of the catering team. Ronnie and his friend Jorge also operated a small business that provided labor and event setup services. “Rock,” as he was affectionately known enjoyed much of his leisure time watching football, basketball, and baseball. Ronnie will be remembered as a man of faith, a man who loved his family deeply, and a loyal friend. Beloved father of Damon (Taisha) Payne Sr. and Tamara Booker (Edward) West. Grandfather of Destynee Payne, Damon Payne Jr., Dasia-na Lee, Prince Jr., Christopher, and Tyron Albert. Great great-grandfather of Dash Lee, Tyron Jr., Harlem, Brooklyn, Londyn, and Carter Albert. Son of the late Boise James and Annabell Scott. Brother of Sarah Scott, Sandra Britton, Althea Toliver, Bosie James, Glen James, Moses Jackson, Jr. and the late Erma Scott, Jewel Scott, Glenda James Jones, and his beloved twin Donnie James. Devoted friend of Nylas Payne, Robin Payne, and Jorge Chao, also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1419 4th Street, Westwego, LA on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Woodrow Hayden Host Pastor - Pastor Charlie Washington officiating.
