Rodney Hamilton Sr., peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the age of 91. He was a native of Natchitoches, LA. and a resident of Avondale, LA. Rodney retired after 30 years as a bus driver with the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA). Rodney’s greatest foundation was his faith in God. A lifelong and devoted member of Mt. Salem Baptist Church for over 70 years, he served with honor and distinction as a Deacon, providing spiritual guidance, wisdom, and leadership to his church family. His commitment to God and service to others was a true reflection of the life he lived. Rodney’s legacy of love, strength, and faith will continue through the family he treasured. Devoted father of Rodney (Angelique) Hamilton Jr., Larry Hamilton, Jacqueline Clark, and Donald (Meaghan) Hamilton. Proud grandfather of Shavanya Sidney, Rodreca Tuck, Lauren Adedokun, Jasmine Hamilton, Jonathan Sielaff, Tai Hamilton, Cameron Hamilton, and Carter Hamilton. Loving great-grandfather of Monet, SajaNi, Jaylon, Nylah, Kai, and Harrison. Son of the late Silas Hamilton Sr. and Minnie Lee Byrd. Brother of Lillie Bolding, Beverly Durand, Rose Gray-Davis, Tom Byrd Jr., Silas (Debra) Hamilton Jr., Robert (Catherine) Hamilton Sr., Robert (Jennifer) Byrd, John L. Hamilton, and the late Annie Mae Helire, Betsy Jones, Milton Byrd, Abert Byrd, Eugene Byrd, Henry Byrd, and Raymond Byrd. Rodney is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the parlor.
