Rene’ “Zeig” Zeigler passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at the age of 65. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Zeig, as he was affectionately known to family and friends, was a 1975 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. He was employed with several construction companies as a carpenter in the Greater New Orleans area prior to retirement. Rene’ also obtained his CDL license and briefly drove trucks locally. He was an avid Saints fan, who bled Black and Gold. Win or lose, he supported his team and loved to scream “Who Dat”. Beloved husband of Melanie A. Burns. Devoted father of Jamaal Zeigler, Marlon Hayes, Nakia E. Delay, and Malery Louis.  Loving grandfather of Jaxon Zeigler, Riley Beckwith, Maria Lopez, Kailyn Nelson, Malik Hayes, Jayden Hayes, and the late Ja’Kai Evans. Great grandfather of Dom’Lea Evans. Son of the late Abraham Zeigler, Sr. and Narcisse H. Zeigler. Brother of Abraham (Denise) Zeigler, Jr. Adopted brother of Kirkland (Denise) Hughes and Thomas Bradley. Father-in-law of Tiffany Zeigler. Uncle of Aldrich and Avery Zeigler. Great uncle of Lilliana Zeigler. Special cousin of Edna McManus (Joseph) Roe, and Bianca McManus. Former husband of Shalonda Holden; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at DAVIS MORTUARY SERVICE, 230 MONROE STREET GRETNA, LA on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the above named parlor.
