REBECCA FOSTER BARRY

Rebecca Foster Barry age 87, entered her heavenly home on Thursday, August 31, 2023, surrounded by the love of her two daughters and son-in-law. She was a native of Paincourtville, LA and a long-time resident of Westwego, LA. She was educated in the Jefferson Parish Public School System. She retired after 20 years as a lieutenant in the corrections office division for the Louisiana Training Institute. Devoted wife of the late Peter Barry. Loving mother of Joyce Johnson Bennette, Lisa Barry Narcisse, and Bruce Lee Barry. Devoted grandmother of Minister Linwood Narcisse Jr., Nicholas Paul Narcisse, and the late Tiffany Nicole Bennette. Great grandmother of Staff Sargent Jyrell (Kaneja Pitts) Vaughn.  Great-great grandmother of Lai’la Nicole Vaughn, and Messia Sanei Vaughn. Daughter of the late Leonard Johnson and Josephine Harden (Creasy) Johnson. Sister of the late Abraham Foster, Kenneth Foster, Ivory Foster Rosenthal, George Foster, Mary Louise Foster, Albertha Johnson, Leonard Johnson, Lou Alberta Johnson, Issac Johnson (twin), Luke Johnson, Clarence Johnson, Oliver Johnson, Mary Johnson Carter, and Harold Johnson. Mother-in-law of Linwood Narcisse, Sr.  Sister in law of Berta Batiste Foster, and Ethel Mae Johnson. Rebecca is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. A special thank you to members of Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church, neighbors, Dr. Shibu Varughese, Dr. Stephen P. LaGuardia, and the staff at Jo Ellen Smith Convalescent Home.
