Raymond Joseph “Ace” Bowie, Sr. entered peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, two days after celebrating his 71st birthday. He was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA. Raymond attended both L. B. Landry and O. Perry Walker High Schools. As a self-taught artist, he dedicated nearly 50 years to artistry and culture of Madri Gras, after beginning his career with Kern Studios in 1977. His extraordinary talent helped shape countless Carnival celebrations through organizations including the Krewe of Muses, Rex, and Endymion. The Krewe of Muses lovingly referred to him as their Apollo. Raymond was an avid and devoted New Orleans Saints fan; he remained loyal through every season and celebrated their Super Bowl victory with unmatched joy. He will be remembered as a loyal, dependable, and loving man who consistently supported the people he cared for. His artistry and impact on the Mardi Gras community will never be forgotten. Beloved husband of Sharon J. Bowie. Devoted father of LaToya C. Bowie, LaKeisha C. Bowie, Tania M. Baker, Wayne Jo (Erica) Guidry, Jr., Raymond J. Bowie, Jr., Robert J. Guidry, Sr., Niesha M. (Robert) Townsend, Amber B. (Trevis) Payton, and Michael J. Bowie. Son of the late Lawrence J. Bowie, Sr. and Betty L. Bowie. Loving brother of Yvette B. Brown and the late Lawrence J. Bowie, Jr., Michelle B. Goines, Jeannine M. Henderson, and Charles J. Bowie. Also cherishing his memories are 22 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, coworkers, other relatives and friends.Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of All Saints Catholic Church and neighboring churches; employees of Kern Studios and Mardi Gras World are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at All Saints Catholic Church, 1441 Teche Street New Orleans, LA on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 11:30a.m. Interment: Westlawn Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
