POLLYANA YATES BROOKS

Pollyana Yates Brooks entered eternal rest at Ochsner Medical Center Jeff Highway on Wednesday September 16, 2026, at the age of 65. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Pollyana was a graduate of McDonogh 35 High School, and she received her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from SUNO. She was an educator with the Jefferson and Orleans Parish School System and retired after 25 years of nurturing young minds. Beloved wife of John A. Brooks, Jr. Devoted mother of John A. Brooks, III, Ashleigh E. Brooks, Sr., and Kelsey Brooks Blake. Daughter of the late Ashley M. Yates, Sr. and Gertrude Price Yates. Sister of Paul Davis, Doris Mosbey, and the late Diane Davis, Ray Davis, and William Davis, III. Mother in law of Dariean Blake and Patsion Price. Daughter in law of Kathleen L. Brooks and the Rev. John A Brooks, Sr. Sister in law of Donita Y. Brooks. Niece of the late Dorothy Anderson, Beulah Duplesis, Curtis Price, Sr., Donald Price, Sr., Henry Price, Jr., Lionel Price, Warren Price, and Wilbert Price. Pollyana is also survived by 5 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of New Hope Baptist Church, and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at New Hope Baptist Church, 1807 Rev. John Raphael Jr. Way, New Orleans, LA on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 10:00 am. Pastor Jaamal Weathersby officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until the time the above named church.
