OWEN EVERETT ROUSSELL

Owen Everett Roussell, age 87, peacefully entered into eternal rest at Ochsner Medical Center Westbank on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA. Owen proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He was a retired employee of the Jefferson Parish Recreation Department. Beloved husband of Valerie Prevost Roussell. Loving father of Leonard and Blake Roussell, Gregory Gourrier, and Amanda G. Carter. Grandfather of Charli Gourrier, Christian and Cross Carter. Son of the late Rev. Ernest Roussell, Sr. and Beulah Gasper Roussell. Devoted brother of Ann, Hilton, Sr. (Annette), Joel (Patricia) Roussell, Sr., and the late Leona R. (Morris, Sr.) Williams, Mable R. (William, Jr.) Patterson, Vada Roussell, Ernest, Jr. (Claudette), Dewey B., Rev. Harold, Sr. (Azalea), and Glenn (Debra) Roussell, Sr. Godfather of Antoinette R. Boudreaux and Courtney Thompson; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of St. Mark Baptist Church, Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church, and Israel Baptist Church are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Israel Baptist Church, 1612 Esther Street, Harvey, LA on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Darrell McKinnies, host pastor; Rev. Dr. Joseph L. Hampton, Sr., officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time the church.
