ORELIA WILLIAMS PORTER

Orelia Delores Williams Porter entered into eternal rest at her home on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the age of 86.  She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. Orelia was a former employee of Belle Chasse State School. Beloved wife of the late Melvin Porter, Sr. (where she shared a blended & extended family. Devoted mother of Rev. Dalvin Williams, Sr., Melvin (Brenda) Porter, Sr., James (Rene) Porter, Dr. Jacqueline (Joseph) Harrison, Shanna Porter (Steven) Smith, Amanda Porter Nixon and the late Cedrick “Papa” Lee Robinson. Grandmother of Dana (Khayree, Sr.) Lee, Cindy Jordan, Tyuanna (Donald) Jackson, Ongelle (Jonathan) Bergeron, Alexander Matthews, Dalvin Williams Jr, Semaj Amari Smith, Melvin (Bernadette) Porter III, Tara Nixon, Latonya Nixon, Jamie Lynn (Jared) Henry, Taiwannesha Porter and Arika Hill. Daughter of the late Roosevelt Williams, Sr. and Emmaline Lewis Williams.  Sister of Leonard Theotis Williams, Mercedes W. Jones, and late Roosevelt Jr. and Henry Lee Williams. Aunt of Ardise Williams, Lenetta (Darryl) Casimier, Myra George & Troylynn (Kevin) Williams, Eldric (Shewanda) Warmington, Carlos (Gilda) Williams, Ivan Williams, Mervin (Pam) Warmington, and Byron George. Lifelong best friend and cousin Marjorie Davis. Friend and confidant Kathleen Lemon Brooks. Honorary daughters Helen, Gail, Doris, Myra, Janice, and  Constance, also survived by 23 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist and neighboring churches; employees of Pophealthcare, Inc, Houston Texas, Cindy Jordan’s Accounting & Tax Services, Spectacular Tubers Restaurants, Cox Communications, Wal-Mart, and Anointed Creations Hair Salon, are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church 922 Estalote Ave. Harvey, LA on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 11:00a.m. Pastor Louis Harrison officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m.  until service time at the above named church. Interment: Evening Star Cemetery-Harvey, LA.
