OPHELIA H. BOWENS

Ophelia H. Bowens left her earthly home on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the age of 89. She was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA. Ophelia attended l. B. Landry High School, and she was employed with the Orleans Parish School System as a cafeteria worker for over 20 years. Beloved wife of the late Leawood S. Bowens for over 50 years. Daughter of the late Ernest and Hazel Harrison. Devoted sister of Urselanda (Brady) McKinnies. Godmother of Sylon Dent. Ophelia is preceded in death by 7 siblings, and she is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family also priest and parishioners of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church 500 Eliza St. New Orleans, LA on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 11:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
