NANCY JULIANA MARTINEZ

Nancy Juliana Martinez departed this life on Friday, April 28, 2023, at the age of 67. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. Nancy graduated from St. Mary’s Academy High School in New Orleans. She attended Delgado Community College and completed cosmetology school at John Jay Beauty College. She was an entrepreneur and owner of Pippins Hair Salon for over 40 years.She was an active member of Word of Faith/Life Gate Fellowship for over 35 years. For years, Nancy would participate in sickle cell events in New Orleans, and she would often attend the Sickle Cell Gala in Tallahassee, FL. In 2017, she was surprised to receive The Crescent Moon Courage Award during the annual event in Florida. The Courage Award is presented to sickle cell warriors for their courage, faith, perseverance, and service to the community, and who also support other warriors battling the debilitating disease. She was determined and persevered to the end. Beloved mother of Ellistair (Gena) Falgout, Sr of Slidell, LA. Loving grandmother of Carielle England Falgout of Dallas, TX, Ellistair, Jr., Josiah Falgout, and Geoffrey Freeman of Slidell, LA. Daughter of the late Julian Martinez and Sarah Merren. Granddaughter of the late Eugene and Crystalline Merren. Sister of of Celia (Lawrence) Cennett of Marrero, LA, Jilma Martinez Ordonez of Bronx, NY, Maria Fernanda Ramos, Rita Guadalupe (Efrain) Castro, Raquel Avila of Dallas, TX, Avenisa Martinez of Honduras, Julio Martinez of Bronx, NY, Ramon Armando Martinez and Dean Martinez of Dallas, TX, and the late Sylvia Link, Sonia Wilson, Enid Parker, Carmen Martinez, Nilia Martinez Guity, Julian Merren and Luciano (Chano) Martinez. Sister-in-law of Brenda (Robert) Cooks of Dallas, TX, Henderson Wilson of Harvey, LA and Louis Parker of Lawnside, NJ. Niece of Roosevelt (Shirley) Merren of Clinton, MD. Godmother of Tieranique Merren of Dallas, TX. Proceeded in death by her dog, Romey, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, clients, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at DAVIS MORTUARY SERVICE, 6820 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY MARRERO, LA on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 11:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the above-named parlor.
