NAKIA JAMES BROWN

Nakia James Brown entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 17, 2023, at the age of 48. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and resident of Harvey, LA. Nakia attended John Ehret High School, and he was employed as a welder with FMT Shipyard and Repair, LLC. Loving father of Nadia Kay 'Rae' Aiel Butcher, Nakia Nehemiah James Brown, and Nakhiem Brown. Grandfather of La’Royce Clark, 2 unborn grandchildren expecting to arrive soon, and the late Roderick Butcher. Son of Mary Ann Brown and the late S. J. McGill.  Grandson of Dorothy Mae Vandarugh, Andrew and Harriett Bradley, Van Ben and Ida Mae McGill. Brother of Bryan Keith (Meagan) Brown of Slidell, LA, Alton David Brown, Kendrex Ladaral Brown, Preston Shay Brown, Raassan Brown of New Iberia, LA, Cordalro Cooper of Atlanta, GA, Stepfen (Lisa) McGill, Sr., Tiffany A. Bradley (Darren) Singer, Sherden Burnside, Junitha Marie Brown, and Shamika Tinson both of Dallas, TX, and the late Cody L. Brown. Nephew of Betty Mae (Ernest) Wilkerson, Jamie Mae Smith, and Evelyn Bradley (Brandon) Lewis of Beaumont, CA, Betty Lou McGill, Glinda Vandarugh and the late Patricia Huggins, Ernest Brooks, Reginald Dabney, Herman and Sherman Johnson. Devoted friend of Latonya Williams; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1701 Estalote St. Harvey, LA on Friday, August 4, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Rickey Johnson officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. until service time at the church.
