Michael Meggs, Jr entered eternal rest at his residence on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the age of 52. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Michael was a beacon of joy and warmth, whose presence lit up every room he entered. His life was a testament of kindness, laughter, and the unwavering bonds with family. “Mikey”, as he was affectionately known by family and friends, infectious smile and signature laugh were famously contagious, leaving a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to meet him. Beloved father of Miaesha, Mia, Michael Pierce, and Mikail Gayles (Darryl). Grandfather of Victoria, Seven, and Wynter. Son of Ruthie and Michael Meggs Sr. (Barbara). Grandson of the late Mary and Willie Sims, Sr., Marion and Ferninand Sims. Great grandson of the late Martha Johnson and John Carpenter Sr. Brother of Shannon Meggs, Michelle Sims, Kenyetta Smith, Bridgette Gomez, David Meggs, Michael Meggs III, and Keith Gomez. Uncle Davon, Jayden, David Jr., Myles, Alexis, Davia, D’Asia, Aniyah, and Jazmyne. Nephew of Patricia, Robin, Deborah Lorie, Sadie Brown, Elemalda Jolivette, Ann Brisco and the late John Carpenter Jr., and Willie Sims Jr. Great nephew of Seth Carpenter, Larry Brown, Carmen Rhodes and the late Joan Carpenter. Cousin of the late Patrice Sims. Godson of the late Estella and Clarence Williams. Godbrother of Sharon Blackmon. Life-long friend of Linda Hardiway and Carolyn Pierce, also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of St. Rock Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Davis St. Rock Baptist Church 2300 Rochelle St. Harvey, LA on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Leonard Franklin officiating.
