Michael C. Burris, age 59, departed this life on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at V. A. Medical Center. He was a native of Franklinton, LA and a resident of Terrytown, LA. Michael was a graduate of Franklinton High School, and he attended Southern University of New Orleans. He served his country as a member of The United States Air Force and received numerous commendations for his bravery that include, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, to just name a few. Michael was employed for 31 years as a Electronic Technician with the United States Postal Service. He served as past president of the American Postal Workers Union New Orleans Local, and as a National Union Advocate. Beloved husband of Dione L. Burris. Loving father of Kelsey D. Burris. Son of the late Oscar and Earline Dykes Burris. Brother of David R. (Carla) Burris of Houston, TX, Christopher Burris of Cleveland, OH, Kevin Burris of Monroe, LA, Sheliah Burris of Franklinton, LA, and the late Barbara B. Wright. Michael is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Historic St. James AME Church and all neighboring churches; employees of U. S. Postal Service and Touro Infirmary are invited to attend the Funeral Service at DAVIS MORTUARY SERVICE, 6820 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY MARRERO, LA on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 10:00a.m. Rev.
