Melvin Henry Burns, Jr., entered eternal rest on Monday, February 23, 2026, at the age of 66. He was a native of Vicksburg, MS and a resident of Marrero, LA. Melvin was a graduate of West Jefferson High School. He was a retired transporter, and a former Jefferson Parish Police Officer. Beloved father of Nakia Mason, Juan Burns, and Torin Burns. Son of the late Melvin Burns, Sr. and Mary G. Burns. Brother of William Burns, Sr., Ricky Burns, Gwendolyn Burns, Melanie Burns, and Helen Heard. Melvin is also survived by 4 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friend of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Rock of Ages Baptist Church and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Rock of Ages Baptist Church 6533 Acre Rd. Marrero, LA on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 10:00 am. Pastor Terrence A. Ranson, Sr. Host Pastor - Rev. Hilton Roussell officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until the time the above named church. Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery-Avondale, LA. Arrangements by Davis Mortuary Service 230 Monroe St. Gretna, LA.
