MELVIA L. SMITH

Melvia L. Smith, a homemaker, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, February 25, 2022, at the age of 84. She was a native of Amite, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Melvia was a graduate of Walter L. Cohen High School. Loving mother of Alton Smith and Gregory Smith. Beloved daughter of Elijah and Irene Galmon Braziel. Sister of the late James and Johnny Braziel, Lovenia, Piccola, Leh, Annie, Velma, Celestine, Alice, and Emma. Melvia is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at DAVIS MORTARY SERVICE, 230 MONROE STREET GRETNA, La. Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the above named parlor.
