Mary Louise Growe Williams, age 94, transitioned peacefully to her heavenly home at Passages Hospice on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. She was a native of Vacherie, LA and a longtime resident of Marrero, LA. Mary retired from the Jefferson Parish Public School System after many years of dedicated service as a Special Education Teacher’s Assistant. She was also formerly employed with Andre’s Antique Shop and as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) with Simoneaux Medical. “Ms. Marie”, as she was affectionately known to many, was a faithful and devoted member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church of Marrero for over 60 years. Before her health began to decline she was an active member numerous church ministries, the Mass Choir, President of Choir #2 for 40 years, Andrew Feeding, Hezekiah, Senior Stars, Pastor’s Anniversary, Woman of Virtue, and 100 Ministry, to just name a few. Mary was also active with many organizations in her community, the People of Ages, Pride of Gretna Chapter #60 Order of the Eastern Stars Prince Hall Affiliation, Business and Professional Women Dept. of Westside Association, The Jewels Social and Christmas Club, and Les Femmes Bells Travel Club. Her meek and gentle spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. Beloved wife of the late Israel Williams. Devoted mother of Jacquelyn “Jackie” Williams, Wanda Jackson, and the late Israel, Jr. and Reginald Williams. Loving grandmother of Chandra (Cory) Cullier, LaKeisha Frazier, Robert Lee (Carla) Jackson, Jr., and Damion Clark. Daughter of the late Ames Growe, Sr. and Leona Hodges Growe. Sister of the late Elnora Nisby, Norna Alexander, Mable Simon, Charlotte Growe, Catherine “Sadie’ Mullins, Carolyn Johnson, Hazel Alvarez, John, Sr., Alfred, James, Cleveland, Sr., and Ames Growe, Jr. Also cherishing her memories are 13 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; employees of Jefferson Parish School System, Harry S. Truman School, NAS JRB New Orleans Commissary, Walmart (Marrero), Metropolitan Gastroenterology Associates, Inclusive Care, Concern Citizens for A Better Algiers, Scott Air Force Base (Illinois), and On Point Mobile Detailing and Lawn Service are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 Walkertown Way, Marrero, LA on Friday, July 3, 2026 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Thomas J. Brown, Jr., officiating. Viewing will be held from 8:00a.m-9:50a.m. ONLY at the church.
