Marion Francis Simmons, age 87, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at her residence. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Avondale, LA. Marion was a former employee of Cajun Pride in Marrero, LA, The Mist, Tchoupitoulas Plantation Restaurant, Dinner Stop and Penny’s Place all in Avondale, LA. Beloved wife of the late James P. Simmons, Sr. by 1st marriage and the late Henry Simmons, by 2nd marriage. Devoted mother of James P. (Sandra) Simmons, Jr., Carlos R. (Angie) Francis, Ray A. (Joycelyn) Simmons, and the late Wanda M. Waits, and Michael Simmons. Loving grandmother of Carl Waits, Jr., Cawanda (Gary) Waits, Darron Waits, Alvin D. Simmons, Keyanhia, Shandell, Sherrell, Michael, Jessica, and the late Craig A. Waits. Daughter of the late Lawrence Francis and Idell Smith Robinson. Sister of Agnes Castlesman of Dallas, TX, Brenda Duplessis, Elaine (Johnny) Washington, Sonia Woods, Paulette Francis, Junius (Delores) Robinson, Jr., Ferdinand (Andrea) Francis, Edward (Eula) Holmes, Reginald (Therese) Francis, Kenneth Francis, and the late Evelina Robinson, Dorothy Palmer, Diane P. Francis, Audrey Robinson, Moses Francis, Eldridge Holmes, and Anthony Francis. Niece of Neola C. Smith. Lifelong companion of Carl Clausen; also survived by 26 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
