Marion Anita Ringo transitioned peacefully at Ochsner Medical Center Westbank on December 21, 2025, surrounded by the warmth of her loving family. She was 79 years old. A native New Orleanian, Marion was born in 1946 to Emmett and Irene Sammons. At McDonogh 35 High School, her outgoing spirit and natural charm made her a standout student. As a proud “Roneagle," she loved singing in the choir and entertaining crowds as a Twirlette. It was during these formative years that she met her former spouse, Alvin Ringo; though they attended different schools, their connection blossomed. After graduation, they married and started a beautiful family with the birth of their first child, Keith Patrick. Marion’s adventurous soul was perfectly suited for life as a Navy spouse. She embraced the military lifestyle, traveling from the Great Lakes of Waukegan, Illinois, and Cheboygan, Wisconsin, to the shores of San Diego and the unique landscape of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Along the way, she welcomed her daughter, Angele Patrice, in Portsmouth, Virginia. Professionally, Marion was a "people person" in the truest sense. Her intellect and engaging spirit allowed her to shine in public-facing roles, whether she was working as a PBX operator overseas, greeting guests as a Players Club representative at Bally’s Casino, or serving as the welcoming face of Woldenberg Village before her retirement. Marion’s foundation was built on strong Christian values, and she had a rare knack for turning strangers into lifelong friends. Her zest for life was infectious. She was a woman of rhythm and passion who loved to dance, listen to music, especially the O’Jays, work out with her Silver Sneakers crew and cheer loudly and proudly for her beloved New Orleans Saints. She had a special glow that radiated from the inside out. She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Keith Patrick Ringo. Her legacy of love continues through her daughter, Angele Ringo Jackson, daughter-in-law, Marie Ringo and son-in-law, Adam Jackson; her brothers, Emmett Anthony and Benjamin Sammons; her dear cousins, Shirley Irvin, Patricia Johnson (Gary), Malcom Payton (Sheri), Norman Payton, Tammy Craig (Barry), George Simmons, and a host of extended family and friends who will miss her radiant smile. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe Street, Gretna, LA on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time.
