MAMIE IONA MANSON RICKS

December 20, 1938 — August 4, 2021

Mother Iona Manson Ricks, age 82, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Columbia, TN. Mother Ricks attended L. B. Landry High School. She was a legendary Gospel Singer who travelled all over Louisiana singing with the Leviticus Gospel Singers, Jackson Travelers, 12 Keys Gospel Singers, Westside Echoes, and the Mighty Chariots of Fire Gospel Singers. Mother Ricks was a faithful member of Hannaway Street Original Church of God, where she served on the Mother’s Board and sang in the Choir. Beloved wife of the late Rosevelt Ricks. Devoted mother of Sylvia E. Daniel, Iva (Carlos) Cardona, Lisa Ricks, Howard “Chief Smiley” Lisa Frierson, Jr., Allen Frierson, Deon Ricks, and Leon Ricks. Great grandmother of the late Caron Frierson, Jr. Daughter of the late McKinley Goins, Sr. and Henriette Sylvia Turner Goins; the late Clifford Manson was her biological father. Loving sister of McKinley Goins, Jr., Andrew Goins, Iva Goins Green and Rachel Goins-Cryer. Niece of Raymond Manson. Aunt of the late Dona Evans and Melvin Terrance. Great aunt of the late Imani Reed. Mother Ricks is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 4 godchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors and members of Victory Christian Center International and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Victory Christian Center International, 411 Opelousas Ave. New Orleans, LA on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 10:00a.m. Bishop L. John Phoenix, host pastor; Elder E. Charles Doley, officiating  Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m until service time at the above named church.
