Malinda Hills-Holmes entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the age of 84. She was a native of Zachary, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Malinda attended Chaneyville High School and was a graduate of Northwestern High School. She continued her studies at Southern University Baton Rouge, obtaining both her undergraduate and law degrees. Malinda was a retired New Orleans Assistant District Attorney and later entered into private law practice. She was formerly employed as a Medical Technologist and as a Allied Health Coordinator with LSU Medical Center at Southern University Baton Rouge. Melinda was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Parish, where she was a lector, Louisiana State Bar Association, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, and Southern University Alumni Federation. Beloved mother of Michael D. Holmes, Pyrannes F. Holmes, Cynthia M. Holmes, Cedric T. Holmes, Christopher R. Holmes, Janine A. Holmes and the late Edward Holmes, Jr., Vern N. Holmes, and Patricia D. Holmes. Grandmother of the late Jamaal M. Holmes. Daughter of the LouVilla Hills Holliday and the late Leonard Moore. Loving sister of Novelyn Askins, Moses Holliday, and the late John H. Judson, Bertha C. Franklin, Brenda White, Ayres Holliday, and Paula Holliday West. Mother-in- law of Nancy Holmes. Sister-in-law of Melvin Holmes, Sheila Holliday, and Oradine Holliday. Malinda is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of Divine Mercy Catholic Parish and all neighboring churches; members of Louisiana State Bar Association, Southern University Alumni Federation, and Sorors of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Mu Zeta Chapter are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish,4337 Sal Lentini Parkway, Kenner, LA on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11:00a.m. Father Francis Sarpong, celebrant. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. Interment: Woodlawn Park Memorial Cemetery, Westwego, LA.
