LYDIA STEIB KELLER

Lydia Steib Keller, age 97, entered peacefully into eternal rest at her residence on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, surrounded by her loving children and family. She was a native of Vacherie, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Lydia was a retired cafeteria worker of Our Lady of Prompt Succor School in Westwego, LA.  As a parishioner of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, after retiring, Lydia began volunteering in the school cafeteria and with the yearly church fair. While at St. Joseph the Worker School, she helped the students develop good eating habits, proper table manners, and provided a comfortable relaxing environment during their lunch time. During the church fair she cooked, baked, and helped wherever she was needed. She had a gift of giving her time and talents to those in need. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Keller. Loving mother of David (Diane) Keller, Deanna (Larry) Cook, Emerice (Olivia) Keller, Gerald Keller, Freddie Keller, and the late James Keller and Octavia Keller Forbes. Daughter of the late Joseph Emerice Steib and Josephia Phillip Steib. Sister of Joseph Elroy Steib and the late Olivia S. Joseph, Leona S. Dumas, Paul Steib, and Josephine Isom. Godmother of Margaret Ann Keller. Mother in law of Willie Forbes and Marva J. Keller. Also cherishing her memories are 28 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and all neighboring churches; members of Knights of Peter Claver St Rita Council and Court #36, St. Joseph the Worker Council and Court #267, Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary; faculty, staff and students of Our Lady of Prompt Succor School; employees of the United States Postal Service, Jefferson Parish Drainage and Sewerage Dept., and Bollinger are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 455 Ames Blvd. Marrero, LA on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 10:00a.m. Father Sidney O. Speaks III, celebrant. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m.; Recitation of the Rosary 8:45a.m.; Tribute to follow. Interment: Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery-Westwego, LA.
