Louisa Charles Reed, age 97, entered peacefully into eternal rest at Passages Hospice on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. She was a native of Opelousas, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Louisa retired at the age of 67, after over 40 years as a private housekeeper. She attended All Saints Catholic Church of Algiers, LA. Beloved mother of the late Mary “Sylvania” Brooks. Loving grandmother of Carlos (Katrina) Brooks, Christian (the late Mark A.) Washington and Kise’an (Tarick) Miller, and the late Gerald “Ellis” Brooks, Jr. Daughter of the late Chester and Ida Charles. Sister of Audrey Franklin, Arthur Charles, and the late Harry Charles, Clarence Charles, Octavia Declouet, Hazel Expose’, Raymond Charles, Vincent Charles, and Idaline Charles. Mother-in-law of the late Gerald Brooks. Louisa is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe Street Gretna, LA on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 10:00a.m. Viewing will be held from 8:30a.m.-10:00a.m. ONLY at the parlor.
