Louis “Tuney” Coleman, Jr., age 61, departed this life at his residence on Friday, May 14, 2021. He was a native of Marrero, LA and a resident of Avondale, LA. Louis was a graduate of West Jefferson High School, where he excelled on the football field as a star running back. He was also exceptional in baseball, basketball, and track. Because of his athletic abilities he was drafted into the NFL, but due to an ankle injury he obtained from playing baseball, he was unable to proceed. Louis retired from Bollinger Marine in 1997. After retirement he continued beginning a jack of all trades. He was an active member of Truth in the Word Ministries of Marrero, where he served as Sergeant at Arms to the pastor and with the Mission Ministry feeding the homeless.  Tuney, as he was known to family and friends, will be remembered for his dance moves, love of football, and playing dominoes. Beloved husband of Miranda Landix Coleman. Loving father of Kentrill Louis Felix, Jerome Louis Coleman, Byron Joseph Duckett, Jr. and Roniece Amanda Wright.  Cherished grandfather of Kentrill Joshua Felix, Kenden Jermaine Felix and Mya Lynn Simon. Son of the late Louis Coleman, Sr. and Audrey Mae Williams. Brother of Sheila Clinton (Welton), Sharon (Doug) Riggs, and Shonett (Don) Mansion. Godfather of Kimberly Washington, Kennedy Grace Scott, and Kali Lee Ann Scott. Nephew of Adeline Alexander. Brother-in-law of Derandus Landix; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Truth in the Word Ministries and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at DAVIS MORTUARY SERVICE, 6820 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY MARRERO, LA on Saturday, May 22, 2012 at 10:00a.m. Apostle Valerie Hooks, officiating  Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m until service time.
