LINDA MARIE DRAKE

Linda Marie Johnson Drake entered eternal rest on Tuesday September 1, 2026, at the age of 69. He was a native and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Linda was a graduate of Oliver Perry Walker High School class of 1975. She later received her Bachelor of Business Administration with a minor in Business Management from Troy University 1998, and in 2001 she obtained her Master’s Degree in Public Administration. Linda was employed with the Federal Government and retired after 30 years of dedicated service. Beloved wife of the late Jerry Lee Drake, Sr. Loving mother of Shante Dionne Britton, Melvin Louis Britton, Jr., and the late Travis Damon Britton. Bonus mother of Jerry Lee Drake, Jr., Terri A. Drake, and Monica H. Drake. Grandmother of Melvin Louis Britton, III, Torry Mandell Henry, Jr., Giovani Miller Britton, Da’Ja Dionne Britton Hunt, Damion Ledger Britton, Tralin Britton, Trajae Britton, Isaiah Williams, Caleb Williams, Titus Britton, D’Mari Britton, and Naomi Brittton. Great grandmother of Kayden Ledger Britton, Torry Mandell Henry III, Aliya Jaelani Lynn Henry, and Armani Mandell Henry. Bonus grandmother of Camry, Kiona, Bradley, Tre’quan, and Lakevia. Bonus great grandmother of Tiaziah, Daniyah, Serenity, Iniko, Omarian and Catalaya. Daughter of the late Huey P. Long, Sr. and Ethel Mae Spencer Johnson. Sister of Denise Ann Johnson, Cheryl Ann Johnson, Wanza Jackson, Heireina P. Johnson, Ronald Johsnon, Donald Johnson, Rev. Michael Jackson, and Huey P. Long, Jr. Former wife of the late Melvin Louis Britton, Sr. Linda is also survived by her cousin/brothers Cornell (Carla) Hampton, Lloyd Hampton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe Street, Gretna, LA, on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service.
