Leverne Jesse Thomas, Sr. departed this life at his residence on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the age of 77. He was native and resident of New Orleans, LA. Leverne attended George Washington Carver High School in the 9th Ward of New Orleans, a place he spoke of often and held close to his heart. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps and later worked as a dedicated truck driver for many years. Leverne also retired from Boh Brothers Construction Company, where he took great pride in his work. He often shared stories about the landmarks he helped build throughout the city, ensuring his legacy would stand tall for generations. Leverne was known for his fun-loving spirit and his deep love for family. He enjoyed music, spending time with friends, watching movies, keeping up with sports, and reading the newspaper. Above all, he loved stepping out in style with his wife, Linda, creating lasting memories wherever they went. Leverne will be missed dearly by his friends, family, children, and neighbors. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit, love, and vibrant personality will live on in all who knew and loved him. Beloved husband of Berlinda Anne Thomas, with whom he shared 33 wonderful years. Loving father of Wanda Thomas and the late Leverne Thomas Jr. Through marriage to Linda, he lovingly embraced her children as his own Michael (Regan) Johnson, Kerry Johnson, Kevin Washington and Bianca Watson. Son of the late Jesse Thomas and Florence Gibson, also cherishing his memories are a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Olive Branch Baptist Church, and neighboring churches; employees of Goodwill, Boh Brothers, Ochsner Home Health, and Serenity Hospice are invited to attend a Viewing at Davis Mortuary Service 230 Monroe St. Gretna, LA on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 12:30p.m. until 2:00p.m. Interment: Will Be Private.
