LEONA WILSON

Leona Wilson entered peacefully into eternal rest at her residence on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at the age of 78. She was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA.   Leona’s enjoyed singing, sewing, cooking, and taking care of her grandchildren. Beloved wife of the late Lewis Jackson. Devoted mother of Lashell Hudson, Michael Briscoe, Andrella Franklin, and Claude Briscoe. Stepmother of Kevin, David, Salon, and Gina Jackson. Loving grandmother of Shaquanda and John Pate, Alvina and Tiffany Briscoe, Alvin Johnson, Jr., Cassietta and Lydia Briscoe, Shawndrika and Antoine Prader, Ana Taiza (Cody) Williams, Markitta, Adrian, Melvin (Teyona), Jamal (Jeanette), Tierra and Brahinie Briscoe, Florian (Tiernisha), Christopher, Mia, Saunders, Deiontre and Maya Franklin, Iasha (Darios) Hicks, and the late Norman and Josia Briscoe. Great grandmother of the late Heaven Nettles. Daughter of the late John Wilson and Mary Sheppard. Sister of Jeanette Wilson. Godmother of Danielle Turner; also survived by a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Greater Providence Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Greater Providence Baptist Church, 623 Newton Street New Orleans, LA on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 10:00a.m. Rev. Kevin Jackson, officiating.  Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
