LEON MCGINNIS

Leon “Dee Belly” McGinnis departed his earthly life on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the age of 59. He was a native and resident of Gretna, LA. Beloved son of the late Ernest McGinnis and Josephine Barnes McGinnis. Grandson of the late Nathaniel and Louise Barnes. Loving brother of Ruby (Edward) Southern, Joyce Shelvin, Martha Stewart, Elinor (Rodney) Dennis, Margaret Stewart, Ophelia (Henry) Pate, Olivia (Richard) Mackin, Erma Forbes, Tom Kelly (Naomi) Stewart, Ernest (Rosemary) McGinnis, Michael (Patricia) McGinnis, John McGinnis, Isiah McGinnis, and the late Myrtle Green, Aubrey “Peanut” Stewart, Calvin, Samuel, Emmitt, Ornal, Emauel, and Joseph McGinnis. Brother in law of the late Lee Roy Shelvin and August Green, also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe St. Gretna, LA. on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the parlor.
