Leon Phillip Forges entered into eternal rest at Passages Hospice on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the age of 87. He was a native of Barataria, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Leon was a retired truck driver with Jo-De Equipment for 30 years. Beloved husband of 58 years to Ruby Cook Forges. Devoted father of Carla Denise Johnson. Grandfather of Carlina and Hammond Hurley Johnson, III. Great grandfather of Brian Harris, Jr., Courtney Hill, Haven Dunn, and the late Cordell Johnson. Son of the late Michel and Hilda Forges. Brother of the late Margarite (Robert) Hunter, Augustine (Woodrow) White, Naomi (James) Howard, Mercury (Verna), Landry (Florence) and James (Doris) Forges. Special uncle and godfather of Michael (Terry) Forges. Godfather of Robert Hunter, Jr., and Constance Melancon. Son in law of the late Lawrence (Juantia) Cook, Sr. Brother in law of Joyce (Willie) Powell, and the late Lawrence (Geneva) Cook, Jr., also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Greater St. John Baptist Church, and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Greater St. John Baptist Church 2823 A Privateer Blvd. Barataria, LA on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the above-named church.
