LATANJA LAWRENCE DIVENS

Latanja Trichelle Lawrence Divens, age 47, transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, February 14, 2022. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA. Latanja was a graduate of McDonogh 35 High School Class of 1992, and continued her studies at Xavier University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. In 2001 she graduated from Holy Cross College with a degree in Nursing. With the desire to help others, Latanja obtained a masters and doctorate degree from Loyola University and William Carey College as a Nurse Practitioner. She was employed with LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Nursing. Latanja was formerly employed as a Family Nurse Practitioner with V. A. Medical Center.  Devoted wife of Kiel Divens. Beloved daughter of Eldridge Lawrence, and Marjorie Vaughn Lawrence. Granddaughter of the late Austin and Geraldine Vaughn, Elouise T. Lawrence, Edward and Freddie M. Lawrence. Loving sister of Eldridge (Crystal) Lawrence, Jason Lawrence, Teresa L. Rose, Sherri Lawrence (Gaubrell), Danielle R. Lawrence, and Dominique Lawrence. Latanja is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Historic St. James Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; employees of LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans and V.A. Medical Center are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Historic St. James Baptist Church, 312 LA 1077, Covington, LA on Monday, February 28, 2022, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the above-named church.
