LANEY RAY WILLIAMS, SR.

Laney Ray Williams, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 28, 2022, at the age of 67. He was born in Tylertown, MS, a native of New Orleans, LA and a long-time resident of Harvey, LA. Laney was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School Class of 1973 and later attended Xavier University. He served his country in the United States Air Force retiring as a Master Sergeant after 20 years. Most of his life he specialized in transportation, and it was his passion. Laney enjoyed family, reading, traveling and sports, particularly watching the New Orleans Saints. Beloved husband of April D. Williams. Loving father of Kendricks, Laney Ray, Jr., Alania, and Kendra Williams, two bonus children Iyonna K. Davis, and Asjah T.  Hayes. Grandfather of Brandon, Felix, Anaya, Naveah, Marlee, and Nora. Son of the late Excell Williams and Dorothy Holmes Williams Thurman. Grandson of the late Sedgie, Sr. and Mary Holmes, Leon, Sr. and Ola Williams. Brother of Dianne Williams, Sherry (Albert) Wilkerson, and Lakeisha Thurman. Nephew of Jewel Holmes, David E. Holmes, Betty Robertson, Leon Williams, Jr., Oneitta Williams, and Bonnie J. Williams. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, 4 brothers-in-law, 4 sisters-in-law, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and Friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Hosanna Fellowship Church of Gretna, St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, and neighboring churches; employees of Belle Chasse Marine Transportation and Martin Transport are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church 1738 L. B. Landry Ave. New Orleans, LA on Friday, December 9, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Norman Francis Host Pastor- Pastor Alex J. Bellow officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. until service time at the above-named church. Interment: Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Dr. Slidell, LA on Monday, December 12, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by Davis Mortuary Service 230 Monroe St. Gretna, LA.
