JOSEPHINE SINGLETON YOUNG

Josephine Singleton Young entered into eternal rest at West Jefferson Medical Center on Monday, September 28, 2026, at the age of 73. She was a native of Centreville, MS and a resident of Westwego, LA. Josephine was employed as a pharmacy technician with K&B, Rite Aid, and Ochsner Hospital for many years. She was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness and severed as a regular pioneer. She was a beacon of light, a role model, and a loving foster mother whose compassion and care touched the lives of many. Josephine will be remembered for her unwavering faith, loving spirit, compassion, strength, by all whose lives she touched throughout her journey. Loving mother of Genel Young (Melvin) Collins, James Lee Young, Jr., Anthony Miguel Harris, and the late Loretta Young Jones. Cherished grandmother of Michael Antonio (Triniece) Bridgewater, Jasma Lee (Danielle) Young, Terell Lee Smith, Joshua Allen Smith, Raheem DeAndre’ Young, James Lee Young III, Semaj and Jada Young, and the late Robert James Young, Sr. Daughter of the late Robert Singleton, Sr. and Odessa Franklin Singleton. Devoted sister of Eugene (Sharon) Singleton, Betty Singleton, Thelma Singleton Moore, and the late Ernest Franklin, Solomon Jones, James Jones, Jr. Robert “Rock” Singleton, Jr., Dorothy J. Packnett, and Mary Inez Singleton. Josephine is also survived by 8 great grandchildren, 4 beloved dogs, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Davis Mortuary Service, 6920 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m until service time at the above named parlor.
