Johnny Henderson, Jr., affectionately known as “Bud,” entered peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the age of 84. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Johnny was a retired truck driver with Haynes Motor Lines. He was formerly employed with Channel 6 News, Swift Plant, and Meal on Wheels. Known for his mechanical skills, he had the natural ability to fix anything. His infectious laughter, humor, and kind spirit, left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Beloved husband of 30 years to Alberta Edmond Henderson. Loving father of Johnny Henderson III (Evelyn), Janice Marie Henderson, Glenn Neal, Gwendolyn Henderson (Eddie), Rhonda Henderson, Gaylynn Jenkins (Joe), Gerald Williams (Kiona), John Henderson (Anneka), Warren Edmond (Shatara), Wanda Edmond Thomas (Donyell, Sr.), Nekisha Edmond Taylor (Reginald), Kelly Edmond (Joy), Jessica Edmond, and the late Denise Henderson Murray, and Michael Edmond. Son of the late Johnny Handerson, Sr and Hibernia Keys Berry. Stepson of the late Rev. Wallace Berry. Devoted brother of Besty Mae Cleon, Cherry Pierre, George Berry (Sharon), Jerry Berry (Mildred), and the late Joyce Berry, Leotha Berry, Geraldine Henderson, Chichal Battle, Barbara Ballet, Sheryl Berry, Gail Wallace, and Donna Battle. Godfather of Alberna “BumBum” Jones, Geneva Southern, and Shonda. Also cherishing his memories are 49 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, 2 great great great grandchildren, 1 future grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of New Sunrise Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at New Sunrise Baptist Church, 1325 Leboeuf Street, Gretna, LA on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Cornell Sisler, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
