JOHN EDWARD MCDONALD, III

February 8, 1975 — July 5, 2022

John Edward McDonald, III entered peacefully into eternal rest at his residence on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at the age of 47. He was a native of Avondale, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA. John was a graduate of L. W. Higgins High School and Cuillier Career Center, where he earned certification as a welder. He was employed as a welder with Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM); he was formerly a welder with BFI.  John was a member of Dirty South Ryderz Horse Riding Club. Beloved husband of DeLise Armstead-McDonald. Devoted father of John Edward McDonald, IV and Christian Clay McDonald. Stepfather of Terriell Dillard, MyLisa Givens, Mydia Givens, Mygel Givens, Duan’yae Dobard, DeLise Dobard, and Dante’ Dobard. Son of the late John Edward McDonald, Jr. and Stella Jones-McDonald. Grandson of the late John Edward McDonald, Sr., Minerva Nickerson McDonald, Charlie Johnson, and Hattie Jones. Brother of Tasha Jones and Cassandra Boone. Son-in-law of the late George Armstead, Jr. and Kathy Downs-Armstead. Also left to cherish his memory are 5 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Life Center Cathedral, Second Zion Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches; employees of ADM; members of Dirty South Ryderz Horse Riding Club are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, 1738 L. B. Landry Ave. New Orleans, LA on Friday, July 15, 2022, at 11:00a.m. Pastor James Nelson Brown, officiating; Pastor Norman Francis, host pastor. Visitation will begin at 10:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
